Wastes managing rules are determined by legislation and subordinate normative acts, in particular for wastes producers, wastes owners, wastes carriers and operators such new obligations, what is connected to collecting of wastes, temporal storage, pre-processing, transportation, restoration and location, also such activities, measures and operations supervising and residues locating objects further care.

According to “Wastes Managing Code” requirement, wastes producers and wastes owners are obliged to recycle themselves in purpose of collect, transportation and recycle, hand over the relevant rights to persons according to code and Georgian legislation and subordinate normative acts.

Waste – this is the substance or item, which is discarded, intended to be discarded or is obliged to be discarded by the owner, in particular:

  • Hazardous wastes – wastes, which have one or more characteristics considering by “Waste Managing Code” III attachment;
  • Non-hazardous wastes – wastes, which is not included by “Hazardous wastes” definition;
  • Household wastes – wastes produced by family;
  • Municipal wastes – household wastes, also other wastes, which are like household waste by their characteristics and compound;
  • Inert wastes – wastes which are not subjected to physical, chemical or biological changes – are not solvent, are not flammable and are not entered into chemical or biological reaction, are not subjected to biodegradation and does not have impact on other material, which can cause environment contamination or damage on human health;
  • Biodegradable wastes – wastes, which are not subjected to anaerobic or aerobic dismantle, including food/animal food wastes, garden/park residues, paper, cartoon;
  • Liquid wastes – wastes existing in liquid condition;
  • Medical wastes – wastes formed by medical institutions, medical research centers, care institutions, veterinary clinics, pharmaceutic facilities and warehouses. Medical wastes management is regulated also according to “technical regulation” established by #64 statement dated by 15th January of 2014: collecting, storing and utilization of treatment-preventive institutions wastes by sanitary rules and norms”.
  • Animal residue (animal deriving Non-food product of animal origin) animal body or its body part, animal deriving product or received other product from animal, which is not intended for human usage according to Euro Parliament and EC council regulation (EC) No 1069/2009, dated by 21th October of 2009;
  • Specific wastes – derived wastes from such products, which due to their characteristics and wide spreading after converting to the waste need the specific managing, receiving and care (packing, oil, tire, motor vehicles, accumulator, battery, electric and electronic equipment and etc);
